Soft spot for Woy Woy
"To me, it was his home, that was where his heart
was, at Woy Woy, where he always went back to – he
went all over the world but it was always that little house.
They never changed one thing in that house since his mother
died – even the white wash piano, it's incredible,"
said Laura Milligan, Spike's eldest daughter, who
moved to Australia several years before he died.
While in Australia, Spike played an instrumental role in
the campaign to save the local landmark, Riley's Island,
from housing development.
After meeting Woy Woy local Beverley Spiers, Spike played
an instrumental role in bringing into the public eye an
ancient Aboriginal cave, which was named Milligan's
Cave in his honour.
