Spoon Show
Spike was the creative genius behind The Goon Show, a ground-breaking BBC radio series that influenced a whole generation of comedians and resonated around the globe. Spike loved to experiment with sounds and sound effects. One of his favourite toys was his tape recorder which he used to capture and play with sounds to conjure up extravagant, often fantastic visual images in the minds of his listeners.
The Spoon Show game gives you the opportunity to play with sound, music and effects to create your own crazy radio show.
The game gives you a tool box of sounds, music and speech snippets and a time line to build your own show. You simply select the clip you want – press play to listen to it (wait a second for the sound to load) and press X to stop. When you’ve chosen your clips, just drag and drop onto the time-line. You’ll be amazed how quickly you have a zany radio show in the Spike tradition. You can even publish your favourite ones on the website, and be eligible for the Christmas Best Spoon Show prize (more later).
"I can remember listening to the 'Goon Show' when I was 10 and it was sort of beyond reach. I think he's done something extraordinary."
Joanna Lumley
"We (Peter, Spike and I) all used to get around one microphone until we got a bit larger and we had three microphones in the end. We were on the thermal currents of Spike’s imagination"
Harry Secombe.
"Most musicians loved "the Goon Show" and they love Spike. All good comedians and shows have been influenced by him – and if they haven’t they should be.
Ronnie Scott.
I think his work was deceptive, some of it looked very silly but it was incredibly complex."
Michael Palin
