Spike marries Paddy

In April 1962, Spike married opera singer Patricia Ridgeway, or Paddy as everyone knew her.

"I was 10 when Paddy came along and Paddy was only 17 years older than me... and ... when I look at me... I was mad at 27, you know just learnt how to do my sandals up.

"She was an amazing woman, and she bought a lot of dignity to the family. She came from Yorkshire, her father was a General, she had a very strict family, and good manners. Suddenly from running around like a tom boy with a bowl hair cut, I was actually having my hair styled and being bought nice dresses and the finer things of life and learning how to eat with a knife and fork."
Laura Milligan

In April 1966, Jane Milligan was born, Paddy's only child.

"I know he was in love with my mother, which is a wonderful thing to know, because he told me til the day he died, and my sisters have confirmed it to me, because there have been many who have come forward to say 'he loved me the most'."
