Terence Alan (Spike) born in Ahmadnagar, 100 miles from Bombay. His father’s steady promotion meant the family’s lifestyle became almost lavish. Spike was never expected to do anything for himself. “You clapped your hands and a servant came and did it for you.” His education began in a girl’s convent school in Poona and he claims there were no books in his house apart from “Robinson Crusoe” and “The Swiss Family Robinson”.
