December 1957 – The Duchess of Kent attended a Goon Show recording. Spike said “I was grossly over-dressed for the occasion”. The recordings at Camden Theatre had become a Sunday evening cult event for Londoners. In 1958, Prince Philip, a fan of The Goon Show, chose the Goons to assist him in a fundraising venture. Prince Charles was soon to become the Goons most famous fan.
