Spike was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for depression and requested electro-convulsive therapy. Of aging, Spike said: “I have got so low that I have asked to be hospitalised. I have thoughts of suicide, I get depressed that I am old…” Of his electric shock treatment he said: “I think the reason for the electric shock treatment is because the shares are down. It doesn’t make any difference though, because I’m still a loony”.
