Shelagh Sinclair came to work at Orme Court as an office ‘temp’. Paddy had been diagnosed with breast cancer the previous year and was in remission. During 1974 Spike spent a month in Woy Woy writing the third of his war series and spent time with his Australian girlfriend, Beverley George.
