Leo’s India post was abolished, and he was sent back to England. The day the ship sailed from Rangoon, Spike cried bitterly, but wouldn’t let anybody see him. He had just turned 15. Of England, Spike, said: “England had weather, lots of it and mostly bad - I spent 12 months longing for the clear sky of Rangoon.”
