Q5 went to air. Spike was determined that this would be a ground-braking series. Fans of the Q series included Terry Jones and Michael Palin, who acknowledge that it paved the way for the Monty Python style of humour. John Cleese is quoted as saying: “Milligan is the great God of us all.” Spike said of the Q series: “I abandoned the notion that a show or even a sketch should have a set form. This was free-form comedy. We would just end a sketch with everyone pacing toward the camera saying "what are we going to do now?” and “Television’s a difficult medium for comedy. Your imagination gets filtered through so many people…there’ve no great flights of fancy in TV comedy like there have been with say, the Ken Russell films. There’s never enough time, or money or imagination.”
