The godfather of alternative comedy
Spike Milligan is remembered for many, many things. Among
them, he is widely regarded as the "godfather of alternative
comedy", an epitah coined by modern-day British comic
Eddie Izzard.
In this 'legacy poem', compiled from interviews conducted
during the making of the movie, I TOLD YOU I WAS ILL: THE
LIFE AND LEGACY OF SPIKE MILLIGAN, those who were touched
by Spike pay tribute to him.
"[When dad died] I just kept seeing all this newspaper
and television stuff and thinking, it's like the Pope of
Comedy's dead... it was just incredible."
