The origins of "He's fallen in the water!"

During the Goon Show years, the Sellers family spent a lot of time at the Milligan’s residence in Holden Road.

"We used to go round there and swim in the pool. I coined the phrase, 'He’s fallen in the water' at that house," reveals Michael Sellers, the eldest of Peter Sellers’ three children.

"[There was] a big canvas pool in the garden that was like an army surplus thing. You’d fill it with water and... it was high and scary, big and full of water and people would go, 'Get in there' and I’d go, 'Oh, no, no'. Anyway apparently they’d run down the garden, leapt up over the side and I said 'He’s fallen in the water' and that’s where it came from."
