Spike loved to play with sound and he was extremely fond of his tape recorder. During the making of the film, we were lucky enough to find his original tape recorder and a suitcase of his own home recordings. With kind permission from his daughter Jane, we are able to bring some of these to you on this site. He made many recordings of his children when they were young - playing, singing, telling stories, talking on the phone - and some of these are included in this collection. He often recorded himself trying out new songs or doing his own version of karaoke. He also made recordings of himself playing the trumpet and piano. A selection of these treasures will be made available on this site over the coming months.
